Director of Loss Prevention

Position Objective

Manages security/loss prevention and garage operations. Areas of responsibilities include protection of property assets, employees, guests and property, accident and emergency prevention and response. Ensures that all areas of the property are safe and secure. Maintains logs, certifications and documents required by law and Hotel Bennett policies and procedures. Conducts surveillance of hotel property to ensure that safety problems are reported and remedied. Follows up with incidents that occurred on each shift. Responds to calls from the dispatching parties that lie within the scope of duties of the Security department and follow through with these calls to a successful conclusion. As required, randomly test burglar, fire, and camera systems to ensure they are properly set and in working order. 

Essential Job Functions

• Assists in the development and implementation of emergency procedures
• Conducts investigation of all losses of property assets
• Deploys security staff to effectively monitor and protect property assets
• Develops and maintains a working relationship with local law enforcement authorities
• Designs and implements a building access key management system
• Develops a garage/valet key management system
• Conducts periodic patrols of entire property
• Identifies and makes recommendations for minimizing physical hazards and unsafe work practices
• Implements action plans to monitor and control risk
• Maintains required reports and documentation regarding patrols of property
• Provides means for obtaining necessary medical attention on a timely basis
• Communicates the importance of safety procedures, detailing procedure codes, ensuring employee understanding of safety codes, monitoring processes and procedures related to safety
• Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
• Provides guidance and direction, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
• Provides personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients
• Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors
• Solicits employee feedback, utilizes an "open door" policy
• Incorporates guest safety and satisfaction as a component of departmental meetings with a focus on continuous improvement
• Assists in minimizing cost of accident claims through aggressive claims management
• Brings issues to the attention of Human Resources as necessary
• Completes proper documentation and reviews all employee accident reports and general liability incidents
• Maintain first aid and CPR certifications 
• Handles guest problems and complaints related to safety, security and garage operations
• Identifies the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others
• Informs and/or updates the executives, the peers and the subordinates on relevant information in a timely manner
• Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• 4 years of experience in the security/loss prevention or related professional area

• While performing the duties this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk’ use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear
• The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• The employee must have legible penmanship for reporting and documentation and be able to see differences in widths and length of lines such as those on graphs
