Belfair Property Owners' Association is seeking a highly skilled Equipment Manager to join our esteemed Agronomy Team. Belfair boasts two Tom Fazio-designed championship golf courses and a cutting-edge, 20-acre practice facility, nestled in the picturesque Lowcountry of Bluffton, South Carolina. Position Summary

The Equipment Manager is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, and other machinery used in the upkeep of the golf course. This individual ensures that all equipment is serviced, repaired, and maintained according to manufacturer standards and in a timely manner to support the ongoing operations of the courses. They are responsible for the management and training for the maintenance technicians.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance And Repair

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical problems with golf course equipment, including gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other components.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment, including oil changes, tire replacements, sharpening blades, and adjusting cutting units.
• Maintain a detailed maintenance log for each piece of equipment, tracking service history, repairs, and parts replaced.

Equipment Management

• Set up and adjust equipment for optimal performance in accordance with course conditions and Superintendent requests.
• Ensure all cutting equipment is properly adjusted and sharpened to provide a high-quality playing surface.
• Maintain inventory of parts and supplies necessary for repairs and servicing.
• Keep all tools and the maintenance shop in a clean and organized manner.

Budgeting And Purchasing

• Assist in preparing and managing the budget for equipment repair and maintenance.
• Recommend the purchase of new equipment, parts, and tools when necessary.
• Evaluate equipment needs and propose long-term strategies for upgrading or replacing outdated or inefficient equipment.

Training And Safety

• Train and supervise staff on the proper use and care of equipment.
• Ensure that all equipment is operated safely and in compliance with the golf course's safety protocols.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure that all equipment meets safety standards.

Collaboration

• Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendents to ensure that the maintenance and equipment needs of the golf course are met.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to address any issues with equipment affecting course operations.

Working Conditions

• Work is typically performed in a maintenance shop, though outdoor work is required when servicing equipment in the field.
• May require working early mornings, weekends, and holidays to ensure the equipment is available for course maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in equipment repair or mechanical systems preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in a golf course or turf management setting.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and grinding reels.
• Familiarity with the setup and adjustment of turf maintenance equipment.
• Ability to keep detailed records and manage inventory.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Spanish speaking a plus but not required.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying weather conditions.
