Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter’s 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. Each of the Hotel’s 181 guest rooms offers a playful nod to the building’s legacy. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan – a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan.

Service

• Be able to adapt to a dynamic bar environment that ranges from fine-dining food service, to high volume cocktails, to casual brunch -- and everything in between.
• Lead the team from the front with a guest-first attitude that focuses on guest experience and interaction.
• Foster a bar environment that is warm, welcoming, and inviting to all bar guests, hotel and local alike.
• Oversee and guide bar staff in maintaining standards of quality in all aspects of service.
• Ensure drinks service is prompt and up to the quality standards of the Café.
• Train and develop new staff members.

Operations

• Coordinate with Café management to ensure orderly and reliable day-to-day bar operations.
• Work with prep-staff to plan and produce base ingredients and batches for the bar program.
• Assist in monthly inventory, compiling of weekly liquor orders, and overseeing proper maintenance and organization of liquor storage areas.
• Work with staff to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization in bar prep & kitchen spaces.

Other

• Assist Banquets, Marketing, and Sales in menu development and production for private events when requested.
• Coordinate bar staff in development of cocktails & menu development for the Cafe, including mentoring bar staff in drink development.
• Be available for media opportunities & public facing engagement when necessary.
