About the TeamShaner Hotels has an exciting opportunity for an Area Director of Sales in the Hershey area, supporting our Courtyard by Marriott Chocolate Ave and the Hampton Inn & Suites Near the Park. Both properties are conveniently located near popular attractions such as the Giant Center, Hershey Park, Hershey’s Chocolate World, and Zoo America North American Wildlife Park. We are also just a short drive from Indian Echo Caverns, the Pennsylvania State Capitol, and the Appalachian Trail.

Job Overview: Become the Heartbeat of Our Sales Strategy! The Area Director of Sales will lead the sales efforts at our Courtyard by Marriott Chocolate Ave and Hampton Inn & Suites Near the Park properties in the vibrant Hershey area! As the leader of our sales team, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to shape the growth of two exceptional properties in a dynamic market.

What You’ll Do: 

Flex Your Leadership: Take charge of both hotels’ sales departments, overseeing daily operations and ensuring the team is aligned with company objectives.

Stay Ahead of the Game: Lead your team to ensure compliance with Shaner Hotels' policies and keep them up to date on current operational procedures and standards.

Cultivate Relationships: Understand and build relationships with key clients, including corporations, associations, sports teams, agencies, and more, to nurture current business and pursue new opportunities.

Drive Market Expansion: Analyze the local market and identify untapped business segments to drive growth and expand our customer base.

Create Winning Campaigns: Design and implement special packages or promotions to boost occupancy during off-peak times, using both traditional and digital advertising strategies to engage potential customers.

Represent Our Brand: Be the face of the hotel at trade shows, civic events, chamber meetings, and local organizations, increasing visibility and generating fresh leads.

Lead with Collaboration: Maintain clear and effective communication with the General Manager, department heads, and hotel staff to ensure smooth execution of sales initiatives.

Achieve Results: Lead the charge in the development, solicitation, and retention of accounts, meeting or exceeding sales targets and ensuring strong client relationships.

Strategize for Success: Oversee the entire sales process to meet hotel standards, ensuring efficiency and maximizing revenue potential.

Drive Sales Performance: Prepare insightful sales reports, forecasts, and presentations for management, providing a clear picture of sales trends and strategies.

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in sales, preferably within the hospitality industry.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, management, and co-workers.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; a college degree in hospitality management, business, or a related field is preferred.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
• Familiarity with the local economy, market conditions, and competitive landscape.
• Working knowledge of hotel operations and sales practices.
• Ability to interpret and understand various documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Proficiency in writing routine reports and correspondence.
• Effective public speaking skills, with the ability to present to groups of customers or employees.
• Familiarity with Sales and Marketing tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of organizing and interpreting B.E.O.'s (Banquet Event Orders), safety rules, and setup requirements.
• Awareness of local attractions and activities that can enhance client offerings.
