The Regional Director of People & Culture is responsible for the overall people, development and cultural operations for Sea Containers London and One Hundred Shoreditch.

They will develop and implement people strategies and programs to ensure maximization of employee engagement that supports the business drive revenues through the delivery outstanding guest service, optimize processes and performance.

The Regional Director of People & Culture is empowered to drive practices that are aligned with the Lore Groups values and vision. The individual’s success will heavily depend on working well and interdependently with relevant internal and external stakeholders and the properties executive leadership teams.

The Regional Director of People & Culture will report directly to the Hotel General Managers and will have a dotted reporting line to the Chief People Officer. This is an on-property position based at the hotels, and it is expected that the Regional Director of People & Culture will split their time accordingly to ensure maximum support is given to the hotels and teams to meet the required business results expected.

Duties and responsibilities of the Regional Director of People & Culture will include:

  • To set direction & provide effective leadership with People & Culture / People Development teams in order to maximize individual & team potential & develop future capability to create a world class People & Culture / People Development service for the region
  • Build People & Culture / People Development team capability, knowledge & resources to meet long term business goals
  • Providing leadership, guidance and coaching for Executive Teams at all the hotels the role oversees, driving alignment throughout and within the Group
  • Responsible for the hotels People & Culture / People, Development and Culture strategy, including innovation, development of the Groups employer brand, employee engagement, design and the delivery of training to improve guest experience, financial performance, and optimizing environmental sustainability
  • Is the market point person for key communications, ownership of issues, policy changes, etc. for total compensation and labour
  • To develop & oversee the effective operational execution of People & Culture / People, Development policy, strategy & system in order to attract, retain & develop top talent.
  • Define & direct People & Culture / People, Development policy & translate into employment terms & operational procedures
  • Set direction & oversee the implementation of regional hotel wide strategy & plan to become” employer of choice” within the markets the hotels operate within
  • Ensures the hotels HRIS system (Workday) is fully managed and used appropriately by all employees within the region
  • Trouble shoot and provide guidance and coaching to operational managers to manage complex performance& disciplinary issues
  • Accountability for day-to-day P&L for areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for maintaining full legal and employment compliance in line with required legislation.
  • Playing an active role in the recruitment, selection and development of all property-level positions partnering with Executive team members to ensure all employees hired are culturally a strong fit for the Lore Group and the hotels
  • Collaborating with the Groups Chief People Officer on wider organization strategy, including talent acquisition and development plans, employee experience and employee value proposition, as well as training and leadership development to generate a robust, sustainable leadership pipeline and a positive working culture across the entire group
  • Monitoring and analysing financial performance across the business to identify and articulate trends, issues, and opportunities. Budgeting and forecasting for new or redeveloped projects when required

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree level or equivalent HR experience
  • CIPD Level 7 Qualified
  • Extensive experience in HR Leadership role
  • Experience managing large teams over multiple locations
  • Experience managing all functions of People & Culture including Learning & Development, and Recruitment
  • Extensive experience in HR & Employment law area
  • Extensive knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and accounting for with an ability to guide property leaders to do the same
  • Experience working within an independent hotel / hospitality organisation (is preferred)
  • Strong experience in a leadership/senior management role (is preferred)

Functional Knowledge:

In depth knowledge of HR & development processes & related disciplines of:

  • Training & Development – including management development
  • Employment law, health & safety & other HR related legislation
  • Talent management: recruitment, retention and engagement.
  • Reward & recognition – including benefits
  • Performance management
  • Good knowledge of IT systems & their application in an HR environment (Ideally with Workday)
  • Proven ability to build internal relationships
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Superior written and visual skills
  • Well organized and detail-oriented
