HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR – OUTBOUND STOWE

ABOUT THE ROLE 

As the Housekeeping Supervisor, you will embody the Outbound brand as an authentic, approachable, adventure-curious, sociable, and savvy leader. You will be responsible for ideating and helping to execute the guest experience from reservation, check-in, stay, departure and ongoing loyalty and communication.  You will know the most interesting people, best bars, best hikes, best food, best musicians, and best adventures so our guests can always enjoy the magic of Stowe, not just what's in the run-of-the-mill tour guides.  

You love the outdoors and are familiar (or inspired to become familiar) with the epic adventures found in Outbound Stowe’s backyard and beyond.  Whatever the season, you are excited to share the best Mother Nature has to offer and are inspired to foster connections to the outdoor industry.  You enjoy culture and will be invested in the local art + music scene: concert venues, local haunts, galleries, musicians and designers.  

SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM 

  • Reports to Housekeeping Manager  

  • Supports hotel by ensuring completion of regular maintenance and cleaning projects 

  • Assists in special projects and other responsibilities as assigned 

  • Assist in creating SOPs and be responsible for all administrative duties for the department 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner. 

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with property standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel. 

  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working. 

  • Comply at all times with property standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. 

  • Establish and maintain a key control system for the department. 

  • Operate pagers and radios efficiently and professionally in communicating with hotel staff. Ensure the proper use of radio etiquette within the housekeeping department. 

  • Monitor and direct all Housekeeping and Laundry personnel. 

  • Inspect rooms daily and when Housekeeping Manager is Off. 

  • Ensure compliance to property standards by training all housekeeping personnel. 

  • Handle overall supervision of daily inspection for arriving V.I.P.'s  

  • Ensure lobbies, guest hallways, guest rooms and the back of the house areas are cleaned to property standards. 

  • Assist in maintaining required pars of al Housekeeping and Laundry supplies by ordering all needed supplies and amenities on a month/quarterly basis. 

  • Conduct monthly and quarterly Housekeeping inventories on a timely basis. 

  • Ensure guest privacy and security by correctly following property procedures. 

  • Ensure implementation of all property policies and house rules. 

  • Train and review all safety rules and procedures with all Housekeeping staff. 

  • Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline all Housekeeping personnel according to property S.O.P.'s 

  • Monitor work orders and submit to Engineering department according to procedures. Follow up on Maintenance Requests to ensure completion. 

  • Respond to all guest requests, situations, complaints and accidents presented to Housekeeping in an attentive, courteous and efficient way. 

  • Attend monthly all-employee team meetings, and any other functions required by management. 

  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with other managers, employees and all other departments. 

  • Respond to emergency situations using information contained in M.S.D. sheets. Keep M.S.D. sheets current and easily available. 

  • Focus the Housekeeping Department on its role in contributing to guest comment card scores. 

  • Assist in maintaining and monitor "Lost and Found" procedures and policies according to standards. 

  • Assist in training all Housekeeping personnel to perform their duties to property standards, using information and training techniques from Performance for Excellence. 

  • Ensure that employees are, at all times, attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and other employees. 

  • Conduct daily morning meeting with staff. 

Qualifications 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Prior Experience: 

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field 

  • Supervisory experience required 

  • IT Expertise: 

  • Advanced knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, outlook) and web analytics tools is preferred. 

  • Education: 

  • 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience 

  • Or 4 year college degree at least 1 year of related experience 

  • Subject Expertise: 

  • May require long hours depending on occupancy 

  • Medium work - exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. 

  • Ability to stand during entire shift. 

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. 

  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. 

  • Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations. 

  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. 

  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. 

  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need. 

  • Must be effective in listening to, understanding and clarifying the issue raised by co-workers and guests. 

  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. 

  • Second language may be required. 

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures as required and maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests. 

  • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor. 

  • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook. 

  • Must be service oriented with excellent customer service and sales skills 

  • Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers and read, write and understand the English language 

  • Must be energetic and outgoing 

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills 

  • Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy 

  • Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision 

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment 

  • Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Opera; preferred. 

  • Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion. 

OTHER EXPECTATIONS: 

  • Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook. 

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures. 

  • Travel required: As needed for hotel familiarization, content creation shoots and to meet with colleagues. 

  • Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (PST), while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
