Position Objective
The position of Lobby Concierge is unique and challenging. The Lobby Concierge is responsible for providing the pivotal first impression, setting the tone for the guest’s stay and creating life-long memories of Hotel Bennett and the Charleston area.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for creating an atmosphere around his/her desk that welcomes people
- Communicate with other people, satisfy a tremendous need for personal service and develop a true sense of community for him/her in the local area
- Promptly answer the telephone calls and greet callers with a positive and clear voice. Listen attentively to the caller to ascertain the purpose of the call to ensure connection to another department is accurate
- Work with preferred vendors to secure transportation, floral orders, tours and more.
- Provide timely information in response to guest requests
- Answer questions regarding the hotel, amenities and local area. Provide expert knowledge and insider tips to enhance the guest experience
- Be responsive to guest requests and complete log sheet(s) as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience
- A College Degree with emphasis on Hospitality or Travel and Tourism is preferred but not required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school or equivalent education required
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must possess basic computational ability
- Must possess basic computer skills
- General knowledge of Charleston and its surrounding area
- Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services and facilities
Requirements
- Ability to multi-task: using telephones and computers while interacting with guests
- Quick thinking ability to give clear, concise recommendations and directions (walking, driving and verbal)
- Knowledge to refer/recommend a wide variety of activities and services as well as information on the local Charleston area and all of its many facets
- Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with customers and accept constructive criticism from supervisors
- Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 40 pounds (boxes/luggage/golf clubs). 90% of shift includes standing, walking or bending
