Position Objective

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fine dining restaurant, Gabrielle. This position supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, including staff management, ensuring exceptional guest experience, inventory control, financial tracking and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. This position will also assist with hiring, training, and resolving guest issues; essentially acting as a key leader in the restaurant's overall success. This position will report to the Restaurant General Manager.

Essential Job Functions
  • Manage all aspects of restaurant operations including front-of-house and back-of-house staff, ensuring smooth service flow during peak hours. 
  • Monitor and maintain quality standards for food and beverage presentation, adhering to established menus and recipes. 
  • Conduct regular inspections of the dining room and kitchen to ensure cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations. 
  • Hire, train, and develop a high-performing restaurant team, including servers, bartenders and hosts. 
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement coaching plans to enhance staff skills and service standards. 
  • Manage staff scheduling and ensure adequate coverages for all shifts. 
  • Foster a positive and professional working environment, promoting teamwork and guest-centricity. 
  • Address guest concerns and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring resolution to maintain guest satisfaction. Monitor guest feedback and implement necessary adjustments to improve dining experience.
  • Actively engage with guests to anticipate their needs and provide personalized service experience. 
  • Coordinate special dining events and private functions, ensuring flawless execution
  • Analyze sales and cost reports to identify areas for improvement and maximize profitability. 
  • Manage restaurant budget, controlling expenses and ensuring cost-effective operations. 
  • Prepares all department storeroom requisitions, ensures operational costs are kept within forecast budgetary guidelines
  • Communicates daily with Executive Sous Chef or Sous Chef in charge, providing current information on reservations, large parties or VIPs expected
  • Attends all required hotel meetings/department meetings to keep abreast of in-house activities/promotions and upcoming events and maintain effective communications with other departments in the hotel
  • Evaluate changes in guest needs, the hotels guest mix and industry competitive set, to recommend appropriate product/service and operational changes necessary to ensure guest and employee satisfaction, while maintaining market dominance and exceptional financial performance
Education/Experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in a high-end free-standing restaurant and/or luxury hotel/resort setting required 
  • Associate degree required, College Degree preferred
  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or Assistant Manager in a high-end luxury hotel or fine dining establishment. 
Requirements
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse team 
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house functions 
  • Deep knowledge of food and beverage steps of service and service standards
  • Wine pairing and menu knowledge 
  • Proficiency in POS systems and restaurant management software 
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities to address guest concerns 
  • Refined presentation and professional demeanor to align with a luxury hotel image 
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch
