Job Overview

The Junior Sous Chef will assist in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen at DOGON Restaurant. They will work closely with the Executive Chef and Senior Sous Chef to ensure the preparation and presentation of high-quality food, while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety standards. The Junior Sous Chef is expected to demonstrate leadership abilities and contribute to the development and training of junior kitchen staff.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the day-to-day management of kitchen operations.
Supervise and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food preparation, quality, and presentation.
Ensure proper food handling and sanitation practices are followed, in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Assist with menu planning and food preparation, ensuring consistency and quality.
Monitor and control food inventory, assisting in ordering and stock management.
Maintain and ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at all times.
Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Senior Sous Chef to maintain efficient kitchen workflow.
Assist in training and mentoring kitchen staff to improve skills and performance.
Ensure all dishes are prepared to the restaurant’s standard and are sent out in a timely manner.
Resolve kitchen-related issues and ensure smooth operations during service.
Oversee food presentation and plating to meet DOGON’s high standards.
Ensure proper storage of ingredients and supplies to minimize waste and spoilage.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in a kitchen leadership role, preferably as a Line Cook, Demi Chef, or Junior Sous Chef.
Strong knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations, and culinary techniques.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Passion for culinary arts and commitment to high-quality food.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Culinary degree or equivalent is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
