What do maintenance attendants do?

 Maintenance attendants are responsible for ensuring that the hotel property is clean and in good operating condition. They are in charge of maintaining the grounds, making sure all equipment is functioning properly and all codes are met and upheld. 

Typical maintenance attendant responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of the building, hotel rooms, kitchen equipment, lighting, HVAC systems, and swimming pools is available on the property.
  • Conduct inspections 
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, supplies, etc…
  • Record and report completed repairs 

Skills hiring managers are looking for:

  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions
  • Knowledge to repair lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems 
  • Excellent communication

Maintenance attendant positions typically require a high school diploma or general education degree or equivalent experience. General knowledge of carpentry, repair, and maintenance work is also expected. 

Possible career paths for executive chefs: 

Housekeeper: Housekeepers are responsible for the hotel property and the room’s general cleanliness. Their responsibilities include having knowledge of cleaning products and procedures, strong time management skills to complete all guest rooms required, and keeping all public areas of the property clean. 

Chief Engineer:  Chief engineers oversee all property maintenance operations and equipment. They work side by side with the general manager as well as lead the maintenance and engineering teams.
