Here's how the job would look like:

This position is responsible for group sales at The Wild Resort and Spa in Sedona, AZ. It is a remote selling position based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. You will assist the Director of Sales & Marketing in preparation of the marketing plan, sales plans, programs and annual budget; manages expenses within approved plans and budgets. The SR SALES MANAGER role has potential to grow into a Director of Sales & Marketing Role with Springboard Hospitality.

Here are your responsibilities:
  • Meet or exceed booking goals for the following segments; corporate, association/convention, incentive group markets, tour and SMERF.
  • Prospect both new and existing clients.
  • Develop, Initiate and follow up on leads
  • Coordination of group bookings to maximize profits.
  • Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
  • Attend the weekly sales meetings and periodically visit property and market
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports
  • Monitor production of all accounts and evaluate trends within the markets.
  • Be familiar with all OLS Hotels and Resorts, Springboard Hospitality sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Banquet and Catering revenues.
  • Coordinate & Conduct site inspection of the hotel with clients and FAMs.
  • Assist in developing strategies to increase share from competitors.
  • Meet and greet onsite contacts as necessary
  • Attend all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management.
  • Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities and events.
  • Create plan that will be used during downward trends in the market place.
  • Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
  • Regularly contact existing accounts.
  • Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections.
  • Assist in implementing special promotions.
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner.
  • Assist with social media marketing.
  • Prepare presentations and proposals.

You may be assigned these:
  1. Participate in trade shows and community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and the achievement of sales and revenue goals.
  2. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as required.

Our expectations from you:
  1. Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the OLS/Springboard team member manual.
  2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all hotel safety and security procedures as required to maintain a secure and safe environment for associates as well as guests.
  3. Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to immediate supervisor/MOD.
  4. Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the team member handbook

Job Requirements

These are what the job requires:

Education: A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience.

Experience: Three to four years of employment in a related position with this company or other companies, preferably at a resort or destination property.

Skills and Abilities: Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing, catering, Food & Beverage, and hospitality professions. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people, complex problems and efficient sales activities. Must possess highly developed communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients. Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities and/or information involving readily available data and indicating logical conclusions and recommendations

Hours Required: 40-50 hours over a 5-day period; weekends and nights as

needed due to sales events or client requirements

Benjamin RafterCEOBen Rafter leads growth, strategy and hotel revenue generation for Springboard Hospitality. Before joining, he was president and CEO of Aqua Hospitality and president of Aston Hotels & Resorts — the largest hotel operator in the Waikiki market. Previously, Ben grew Aqua Hospitality fivefold in less than four years, from a small Waikiki operator to the only hotel company on all six Hawaii tourism islands. Also while at Aqua, Ben completed more than 20 renovations as well as new, ground-up developments. He was so confident of the Aqua team’s operational capabilities he placed his personal cell phone number in all of Aqua’s hotel rooms. When the company was sold to Interval Leisure Group (IILG, Aston’s parent), Ben estimated his number was accessible to more than 2 million visitors to Hawaii a year. Prior to Aqua, he spent more than 15 years guiding successful tech companies. In various roles he created global innovation centers, acted as a principal strategist for G2000 and startup companies, and founded companies of his own. In 1996, he co-founded Innerlinx (LiveBid), which was acquired by Ben began his career in the distribution department of Westin Hotels & Resorts.
