About the Job

The Small Meetings Manager is responsible for the individual achievement of guest room and banquet revenue goals generated by group programs of 10- 25 guest rooms and reports to the Director of Conference Services. Seeking an individual who has experience in the sales process, catering events, and the function of a hotel. Establishes lasting relationships with clients and third parties by prompt follow-up, a willingness to exceed expectations, attention to detail and consistent communication to ensure that the client’s expectations are exceeded.

You will be responsible for:

  • Capture the client’s vision and effectively convey the specifications to the appropriate departments, rapidly responding to inquiries, concerns, and ensuring an exceptional client experience and seeding future bookings.
  • Negotiate guest room rates, food and beverage prices and event space.
  • Book group room blocks for groups with 10 – 25 guest rooms.
  • Effectively manage schedule to prioritize creating contracts, Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and group resumes for the group programs.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with the Operational Departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed sales goals by effectively negotiating and closing business.
  • Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
  • Solicit new and existing account to meet/exceed revenue goals through solicitation, outside sales calls, and site inspections.
  • Professionally represent the hotel in community, industry organizations and events.
  • Works with the hotels sales, revenue management, and conference director to achieve rooms and catering revenue targets.
  • Pro-active sales skills and ability to develop new business and generate organic growth within existing accounts. Thorough knowledge of sales techniques including strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Proficient computer knowledge, specifically Delphi, Word, Opera, and Excel.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel including nights and weekends.
  • Coordinate and service client events to ensure customer satisfaction while maintaining profitable operations and high quality products and service levels.
  • Know meeting room setups and capabilities.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

The Luskin Conference Center is an International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) and LEED Platinum certified property located in Westwood, California. We have a Trip Advisor rating of “7 out of 405” hotels within Los Angeles. This high-end facility is comprised of 254 guest rooms, approximately 25,000 square feet of meeting space, a 160-seat restaurant, a fitness center, and a business center. The total staff anticipated for the Luskin Conference Center is approximately 165-180 full-time employees, with total revenue projected at $30 million annually.
