McKenzie HowreyReservations and Concierge ManagerA Colorado native, McKenzie was born and raised in Franktown. She studied at the University of Hawaii and continued on to graduate school where she earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Having spent the last decade living in Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge and Hawaii, McKenzie developed a natural desire for travel and helping others experience a new destination like a local. While her career started in the mental health field, she quickly fell in love with the hospitality industry. A six-year veteran of Breckenridge Grand Vacations, McKenzie gained an extensive background in hospitality. Mckenzie is thrilled her passions have become a career built upon sharing the wilderness with other outdoor enthusiasts. Her personal interests focus on more adventurous travel experiences and she can’t wait to bring the same experiences to our guests.
Vanessa VitaleSenior Vice President of HospitalityVanessa’s passion for travel and hospitality began at a young age growing up in Europe and spending any free time she had backpacking and exploring new cultures. She moved to Chicago and began her career with Marriott, then Sofitel, where she led the Guest Services team. Her passion for the water brought her closer to the ocean managing a luxury yachting resort in Newport, but it wasn’t close enough. A few years later, Vanessa took off for a 9-month sail from Georgia through the Caribbean to Northern South America and Panama. After logging 3,000 nautical miles and countless sleepless nights, Vanessa relocated to New York City to oversee The Tillary Hotel. Thrilled to be leading Collective Governors Island, she is combining her love for the water with her expertise in luxury hotel accommodations.
Peter MackFounder and CEOPeter has had a passion for service to others since he was a teenager and first got his taste of hospitality working as a dishwasher at a hotel. He went on to graduate from Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration, then spent ten years at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, cultivating brands like Westin, W Hotels and St. Regis, and guiding strategy across marketing, loyalty, and customer experience. After that, he joined Tough Mudder to oversee experience design and product, which meant he got to think about how to create new and innovative obstacles and courses, among other things. Through his hospitality and experiential event expertise, Peter realized that hotels should be places to connect and explore—rather than just sleep and shower. Collective Retreats was born out of that drive to create a better, and more inspiring travel experience. After scouring the country for the most stunning locations, he built retreats starting in Vail and Yellowstone, and has continued to expand to new markets from there.

Culture (2)

Our Reason for BeingWe started Collective Retreats to help people experience travel the way it should be—as a way to connect. Beginning with our first retreat, we took inspiration from the mountains and their raw beauty, as well as our own experiences traveling and connecting with people and places over the years. We aim to create transformative moments and a way of traveling that would provide connection and meaning.
Our Pledge: Collective GoodWe pledge to be stewards of the environment in two ways. First, our retreats are designed to help guests immerse themselves in extraordinary destinations, leaving them more aware and connected to natural environments. With trip after unforgettable trip, we aim to create more environmental stewards to join our mission. Second, knowing how integral travel is to environmental stewardship, we seek to make our own role in the industry as low impact and innovative as possible.
