Rooms Division Assistant Manager

The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston is seeking a Rooms Division Assistant Manager to join our team. What you can expect to do:
  • Be familiar with all standards of performance excellence and adhere to these standards throughout our guests' experience
  • Monitor Occupancy and Hotel operational flow to ensure the maximization of room revenue
  • Tour rooms operating departments daily, greeting Colleagues and soliciting feedback
  • Conduct walk-throughs of public areas and guestrooms to ensure that cleanliness and maintenance standards are met
  • Monitor labor expenses through schedule approval process and ensure budgeted productivity.
  • Collaborate with Revenue management, Sales and Marketing teams to plan and execute revenue maximization strategies.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing and MSE teams to improve booth Group and transient guest experiences and future activities.
  • Complete the monthly Occupancy, Finance and Labor forecasts.
  • Assist Rooms and Property leadership team in preparing the annual Rooms Division budget.
  • Operate all aspects of the Front Office and Guest Services computer systems, including software maintenance, report generation analysis and simple programming.
  • Monitor proper operation of P.B.X. services and consoles.
  • Be knowledgeable of the current corporate marketing programs. Ensure that colleagues are knowledgeable in understanding and implementing corporate programs.
  • Prepare and conduct all front of the house Rooms Division interviews, following all hiring procedures. Actively support Human Resources with recruiting efforts.
  • Develop team morale and ensure training of all Front Office, P.B.X. and Guest service Colleagues up to Forbes service standards.
  • Participate in required M.O.D. program as scheduled.
  • Review Front Desk, P.B.X. and Guest services staff's worked hours for payroll and submit to accounting on a timely basis.
  • Prepare weekly work schedules according to business forecast, payroll budget guidelines and productivity requirements.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with property Leadership, Colleagues and other departments.
  • Ensure Colleagues greeting and welcoming all guests approaching Front Desk, Bell Desk and valet stand.
  • Carry a radio when on duty. Operate radios efficiently and professionally in communicating with hotel staff. Ensure the proper use of radio etiquette within the department.
  • Maintain lobby during peak times and as needed.
  • Manage and organize large turns (check in-check out)
  • Ensure participation within weekly staff meetings.
  • Focus on the Front Office, P.B.X. Guest Services and Valet Departments on their role in contributing towards the established Five Diamond standards.
  • Respond in maintaining the integrity of other departments by immediately addressing issues with Colleagues when necessary.
  • Assist in all areas of Housekeeping.
  • Approach all encounters with employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
  • Comply at all times with standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Employees must, at all times, be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, mangers, and fellow employees.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline all Front Office associates.
  • Ensure compliance to Pre and post Shift Previews.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in Front Office and/or Guest services preferred
  • College or equivalent required.
  • Computer experience preferred.
