Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Payroll Specialistis to perform duties within the following functional areas: payroll processing, payroll audits, FLSA calculations, payroll technologies, payroll taxes, policy implementation, and other related finance projects in accordance to established standards.

Work Performed:

The Payroll Specialist will be tasked with the following duties, responsibilities, and assignments:
  • Assist designated property representatives with established payroll processing duties and timelines in accordance to Atrium's Core Values; ,
  • Perform a variety of payroll processing audits and processes, including maintaining related records, preparing reports and transactions, documenting and updating procedures as appropriate;
  • Support quarterly and year end activities;
  • Utilize audit reports and queries to verify accuracy for both on and off cycle processing;
  • Produce scheduled and ad-hoc reporting for management, including creating new reports in Workday;
  • Partner with various internal and external teams regarding system tests, training and validation of benefit enrollment, deductions and billing;
  • Assist with processing and resolving payroll related matters in a timely fashion;
  • Reconcile payroll reports to ensure accuracy within designated timeframes;
  • Process all off cycle and special payments and determined by designated company leadership per established guidelines;
  • Data Analysis and process improvement recommendations;
  • Quickly and effectively communicate with internal and external teams;
  • Proactively and regularly assist with ongoing set up, testing and maintenance activities of the payroll and HRIS system; and


  • Any and all other work as required to complete the primary purpose of the position


Qualifications:

Required Prior Experience:

2+ years of b asic payroll experience

1-year experience processing payrolls across m ulti-state s

Experience with a dministration of t ime keeping and attendance tracking systems

S trong working knowledge of payroll taxes, regulatory reporting requirements and applicable wage & hour laws

Preferred Prior Experience:

Experience with implementing payroll

Ability to demonstrate a solid working knowledge of a GL

Hospitality experience

Required Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education:

BA/BS in Accounting, Human Resources or a related field or equivalent experience

Preferred Licenses/ Certification:

Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional ( FPC /CPP)

Required Technology:

Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite

Required Technology:

Workday Payroll, Absence and Time Tracking Platforms

Physical:

8+ hours at a desk/computer

Other:

Joe KellySenior Vice President of OperationsJoe Kelly is Senior Vice President of Operations and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Atrium’s hotel portfolio. In his role, Joe leads the Vice Presidents of Operations in developing and executing operational strategies. As a member of the AH Executive Committee he also assists in developing a culture of best in class engagement and execution. Joe joined us in 2015 after working for John Q. Hammons Hotels for five years as Regional VP, managing 16 hotels with Hilton and Marriott brands, exceeding $190 million in revenue. Daniel AbernethyPresidentDaniel is President of Atrium Hospitality. He joined Atrium in 2007 as SVP of Asset Management and has been responsible for overseeing all facets of operations for the company’s hotel, resort and golf portfolio. He has over 30 years of experience in the hotel industry, concentrating in asset management, sales and marketing, and revenue management at the hotel and corporate levels. In his role as President, Daniel is actively involved in the development of property and enterprise level operating and capital investment strategies to maximize financial performance, improve product positioning, and increase ROI on capital projects. Prior to joining Atrium, Daniel was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Lodgian Inc., responsible for revenue generation and strategy development for over 80 hotels with a variety of brands including Starwood, Marriott, Hilton and IHG.
