Job Description

Embassy Suites Hotel by Hilton El Paso, TX is searching for an experienced server/busser who is outgoing, professional yet friendly and who is dedicated to customer service. As a server/bartender, you will serve our customers while providing courteous, professional, efficient service and ensuring customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Check Room Service for proper set up
  • Do all necessary set-up side work as per side work schedule
  • Be knowledgeable of all menu items, their garnish, contents and preparation methods. Be prepared to answer any guest questions about the Room Service menu in a direct, concise way. Know the Use Records
  • Use suggestive selling techniques
  • Check Micros machines to make sure they are set to the proper menu
  • Set up orders and deliver to rooms within the standards
  • Complete knowledge of service standards for beer, liquor and wine
  • Follow procedures in taking guest's order
  • Check food before delivery it to guest room to ascertain that appearance, temperature and portions are correct
  • Follow proper tray set up for special delivery such as VIP
  • Report any problems that may occur with service or a guest complaint to management
  • Have complete knowledge of daily hotel events and hours of operation.
  • Promptly return check and payment to cashier
  • Call back to guest after 5-10 minutes to see if meal is satisfactory
  • Maintain good telephone techniques
  • Have complete knowledge of micros system. No voids or deletes without management's written approval
  • Accurately and efficiently fill out reports, vouchers, forms, etc., to document daily transactions and provide accounting with necessary shift information
  • Maintain a clean and appealing facility in compliance with health code and safety standards
  • Prepare for the next shift by restocking adequate items in each shelf
  • Promptly retrieve soiled dishes from hallways and guest rooms as needed
  • Declare tips according to IRS standards
  • Be familiar with hotel facilities and their location and hours of operation or where direct guest to find this information. Know directions to get to hotel
  • Provide positive, professional guest contact. Answer guest's questions and solve guest's problems and complaints promptly. Make guest feel welcomed
  • Assure that sufficient supplies of necessary service are available to maintain adequate stock (coffee cups, lids, napkins, sugar, silverware, etc.)
  • Ensure that proper communications take place between Cook, Cashier and management
  • Clean and break trays in dish area, taking care not to break or chip dishware

Job Requirements

Licenses or certificates:
  • Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate including alcohol servers' certification/Food handlers certification. CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training is a plus.
  • Must be flexible enough to work any shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience preferred in hospitality business

    LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form with guests and employees so as to respond accurately and completely to people to give directions, instructions, information, answer questions and provide service as required.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Basic mathematics skill required
  • Use arithmetic accurately to calculate checks and collect payment

    REASONING ABILITY
  • Memorize the menu, specials of the day and special promotions
  • Accurate short term memory
