The Residence Inn by Marriott Pleasanton is a lovely all-suite hotel, located near I-580 and I-680, adjacent to the Stoneridge Mall. Our extended stay hotel with 3 floors, 135 suites and 3 meeting rooms offers the "home away from home" experience to our guests. Seeking for a Laundry/Guest Room Attendant to join as a Full-Time Associate. Position requires a flexible schedule and availability to work weekend shifts.
JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for cleaning and preparing the hotel’s linen supply for guest room occupancy. Cleans washer and dryers and keeping laundry room clean. Responsible for providing our guests with clean and appealing guest rooms and hallways. Responsible for providing clean and welcoming public areas throughout the hotel.
WORK HOURS
Associate will work mostly day shifts, both weekdays and weekends. Some overtime may be required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- No prior experience or training.
- Previous laundry and/or guest room attendant in a full service hotel or similar job experience preferred.
- High School graduate or GED preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Laundry
- Loads articles into washer to specific guidelines after proper sorting and weighing has been done.
- Sets the machine to the proper cycle which allows the proper chemical to flow into the machine. Starts machine that automatically washes and rinses articles.
- Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them successively into dryers for measured time cycles.
- Sorts dried articles according to type. Folds and places items in appropriate areas.
- Makes sure all chemical containers are full so that the cycle of the machine will run correctly. Exchanges full for empty containers as necessary, following safety guidelines.
- Removes torn, ripped, stained or worn articles. Discard items and log them for inventory.
- Soaks contaminated articles to precondition articles for washing.
- Sweeps, mops and dusts laundry room. Stocks and organizes shelves.
- Cleans lint traps regularly.
- Ensure all equipment is in operation order and all supplies are up to par. Report equipment that needs repair or supplies that need to be ordered.
- Be familiar with the operating procedures of all other areas of the hotel, cooperating fully and in a friendly manner with those areas to assure customer satisfaction.
- Be a Team Player and encourage the teamwork attitude among staff.
- Attends department and inter-departmental meetings.
- Notify management of any pertinent information related to shift activities.
- Be knowledgeable in all hotel emergency procedures.
- Ensure areas are free of safety hazards and performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensures total guest satisfaction.
- Follow supervisor’s instructions and performs other duties as directed or assigned.
Guest Room Attendant
- Keep work area clean and neat, free from dust and litter.
- Loads carts with supplies needed to perform duties.
- Cleans all guest rooms as assigned within the required time limit. Duties in each room include:
- Change bed linens and makes bed.
- Vacuum carpet. Moves furniture as needed to clean.
- Dust and clean all furniture including picture frames, bed frames, lamps, TV’s, armoires, desks, etc.
- Clean mirrors, surfaces, windows, walls, etc.
- Thoroughly clean bathroom area by washing the shower/tub, sink, floor, toilet, etc.
- Replace room amenities such as bathroom supplies, drinking glasses, writing supplies, etc.
- Empties wastebaskets.
- Ensure guest room set up complies with standards.
- Reports any discrepancies in room status, why room was not completed, etc. to Inspector.
- Turns in all Lost & Found items following the standard procedures.
- Fills out assignment sheet as each room is completed.
- Ensure all equipment is in operation order and all supplies are up to par. Report equipment that needs repair or supplies that need to be ordered.
- Interacts with guests to answer questions and provide necessary services. Refers guests to other staff members if needed.

SECONDARY JOB DUTIES
- Keeps white room clean at all times.
- Assists in the laundry to wash, dry and fold linens and terry.
- Assists with cleaning and organizing store room as needed.
- Cleans ceilings.
- Moves heavy furniture.
- Strip and make rollaway beds.
