IT Systems Engineer
The Post Oak at Uptown Houston


The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to join our team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Resolve technically complex problems.
  • Plan, install, and configure workstations, printers and peripherals.
  • Document user instructions, software versions, and operational procedures.
  • Respond to user and guest requests for assistance.
  • Prioritize and manage helpdesk tickets
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve user complaints and problems with software and hardware.
  • Work with co-workers and/or vendors to resolve problems as needed.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Perform tasks at the direction of department Management.
  • Keep abreast of current trends and technologies in the industry.
  • Provide on-call support

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of computer system installation, troubleshooting, problem determination, and restoration techniques.
  • Excellent and professional communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking hands-on environment. Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship will all individuals; listens carefully and has the ability to perform as a team member.
  • A minimum of three years experience with relevant technical products: MS operating systems, desktop automation products, Hotel PMS systems, POS systems, and ancillary software products. Knowledge of Agilysys V1 and Aloha POS, a plus.
  • Help desk and problem-solving customer support experience. High degree of customer service urgency and responsiveness.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies, electronic hardware and software and mission-critical systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented and be able to perform many tasks at one time.
  • Available to work in a 24 hour, 7-day a week environment.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent experience preferred. Background experience in technical computer support environment required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within Information Technology.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work is primarily performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment with occasional hot and cold temperature changes. Some work is performed outdoors at times.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to a maximum of 50 lb., alone for distances up to 500ft.
  • Work with others, sometimes in close spaces.
  • Moderate Noise Levels
  • Walk/Stand on Tile/Mats.
