Job Description

Housekeeping Manager Job Description 

Reports to:  Hotel Manager 

Work Hours:  Full time 

Shift Times:  As is typical to the hospitality industry, staff require the flexibility to work a range of shift times (morning, day, evening, periodic overnight) and days of week (Sunday – Saturday availability) 

Reports:  Assistant Housekeeping Manager, Housekeeping Supervisor, Housekeepers, Housemen


· Interacting with guests at every opportunity 

· Leading by example 

· Coach, motivate, inspire and manage all housekeeping staff, supervisors, and assistant managers 

· Conducting daily housekeeping meeting, other department shift meetings, other department meetings as required  

· Training housekeeping staff on guest service and housekeeping standards as required 

· Scheduling of housekeeping employees to ensure adequate staffing 

· Cost control of all facets of the department 

· Liaise as necessary with Maintenance, Sales and Guest Services departments 

· Managing labor and purchasing required to meet financial objectives 

· Full cycle linen management including:  managing vendor, monitoring daily cleaning process, maintaining, counting and ordering linen as necessary to meet company standards 

· Supply management including inventory counts and purchasing and payment processing of cleaning and guest room supplies 

· Department payroll management 

· Housekeeping department recruitment 

· Completing staff performance evaluations 

· Disciplinary action as required 

· Opening and closing of Housekeeping, relative to room assignments and cleaning 

· Room inspection program 

· Attending daily, weekly and other leadership meeting as directed 

· Other duties as assigned 

Job Requirements

  · 3+ years Housekeeping management experience as an executive housekeeper, housekeeping director, or other similar position at a 4-Star hotel

· Extensive knowledge of environmental services (EVS), including detailed cleaning processes and a wide range of cleaning supplies and equipment

· Applicants should detail-oriented, demonstrate a commitment to customer service and ability to lead team
