Job Description


NVD is currently seeking a General Manager for one it's Food & Beverage Operations. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Operations Manager, the GM – Earls Whitehorse will lead a team of professional restauranteurs. In alignment with both NVD’s and Earls brands, this role will be a great entry level leadership opportunity for those looking to develop a career in the culinary and beverage industry. If you already have a few years’ experience with progressing roles in this sector and also graduated from a hospitality, tourism, or culinary program then we urge you to apply.

Job Requirements



  • Hire and train      employees
  • Ensure      scheduling and staffing is meeting labor targets
  • Work with the      Restaurant Supervisors and Sous Chef to ensure service meets NVD and Earls      standards
  • Responsible for      monthly inventory of liquor and food
  • Assist in      creating and editing food & beverage menus
  • Project supply      needs for the restaurant such as glassware, bar supplies, kitchen      equipment etc.
  • Develop long      lasting relationships with locals as well as tourists who visit the      establishment
  • Applies      knowledge of laws and liquor licenses
  • Ensure all      employees follow and adhere to policies
  • Motivate staff      during shifts
  • Assist in      ordering of all items required for service such as food and liquor
  • Other duties as      assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Hospitality      Diploma or Degree with focus in Food & Beverage an asset· Previous      food and beverage position required
  • Previous      restaurant leadership as preferred
  • Eager to learn      and career orientated
  • Ability to      interact with a broad range of personalities
  • Ability to      collect, analyze and summarize information
  • Attention to      details
  • Ability to work      independently as well as in a group environment
  • Ability to      prioritize workload and adjust to shifting priorities
  • Strong work      ethic, respectful and reliable
  • Proficient      skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Excellent      written, oral, listening and communication skills
  • Ability to work      flexible hours such as evenings and weekends

Dylan SooCorporate SecretaryDylan holds a Masters Degree at Royal Roads University in International Hotel Management as well as a Certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management from Cornell online. He is one of the longest serving members of NVD, being a part of the company since 2009 after moving from Vancouver where was born and raised. Prior to moving up from Vancouver, Dylan spend time working at some of the most prestigious properties in BC including the world renowned Relais & Chateaux, Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino and the AAA Five Diamond Awarded Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver. Dylan was also fortunate to be part of a new development in 2007 with the Sidney Pier Hotel & Spa where he took an interest in building hotels from the ground up. With almost 25 years of hospitality experience, Dylan has spearheaded a team of professionals that has seen the hotel portfolio grow from two properties to six and an asset value of over $40 million. At this time due to the make up and skill of the team, he was able to step into new roles for NVD including business development and board/investor relations. He continues to look forward to rounding out his skill set within NVD and is excited for the growth opportunity of the company, both from a career stand point and as a company investment standpoint. In his spare time, Dylan loves to spend time teaching his kids to cook, play sports, and travel with them to other places in the world. He is a self proclaimed foodie and is fascinated with all types of cuisine. He developed the Yukon Burger Challenge which saw numerous restaurants compete for the best burgers over three different summers. In between work and family life Dylan has sat on various committees & boards including the Yukon Quest, Yukon College Hospitality Steering Committee, and Tourism Industry Association of Yukon HR and Culinary Tourism committees.
