The ENGINEERING COORDINATOR provides daily operations and project support to the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, include but not limited to:

  • To satisfactorily perform tasks as directed, including purchasing supplies and equipment, inventory control, report research, filing, mail handling, initiating and handling check requests, and purchase order requests.
  • To research and collect vendor bids and to ensure the availability of maintenance equipment and supplies and follow-up on outstanding orders.
  • To maintain departmental personnel files, forms and payroll transactions for accounting.
  • To review, track and prioritize daily work responsibilities and special projects.
  • To track monthly departmental expenditures by recording expenses in checkbook.
  • To follow all specified operating procedures and request, as required, documentation such as certificates of insurance.
  • To prepare for monthly departmental meetings and to take minutes of such meetings.
  • To properly process invoices for accounting.  

Job Requirements

JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: High school diploma or equivalent required. AA degree in secretarial sciences or related field preferred. English fluency required. Must have minimum five years experience in similar position. Must take dictation, and accurately type minimum 50 wpm. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of all office systems and relevant machines. Computer experience required. Proficiency in Word and Excel required. Must have strong priority management skills and be able to multi-task. Must display knowledge of currently accepted business phone etiquette. Hotel experience preferred.  

SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Safety-minded. High quality standards for production and service. Diplomatic and calm. Strong verbal communications skills. Courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands/walks approximately 20% of shift. Sits at desk or in meetings approximately 80% of shift. Uses personal computer approximately 80% of shift. Moderate to heavy use of phones, daily. Use of stairs, daily. Requires extensive reading to perform routine job tasks.

Cristina SchultzAssistant Director of Human ResourcesCristina Schultz has been with the Surf & Sand Resort’s Human Resources team since 2006. Her education started in her native country of Mexico, where she obtained a Law Degree from the Universidad Autonoma De Guadalajara. Cristina’s Human Resources professional career started in 2000 when she achieved her certificate in Human Resources at California State University, Long Beach. She has worked in HR in various positions such as HR Coordinator, Training Manager and Employment Manager. “Surf & Sand Resort and JC Resorts is my second home. It’s a privilege to work in a beautiful environment with such a wonderful team of professionals.”
Julie DoddDirector of Human ResourcesJulie Dodd has been leading the Human Resources team at Surf & Sand Resort since 2004. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in Hospitality Business and has held several positions within the industry; including restaurants, hotels, and private clubs. This diversity allows her to understand the ins and outs of various departments. In 1999, Julie accepted her first Human Resources opportunity and has remained in the HR field ever since.
