Director of Sales & Marketing
Holiday Inn Downtown Louisville, KY

This brand new Holiday Inn in Downtown Louisville, KY is seeking to fulfill Director of Sales & Marketing position. The Director of Sales & Marketing will provide overall  leadership to the Sales Team, be responsible for strategically  soliciting and developing new accounts, maintaining excellent rapport  with new accounts and successfully promoting the hotel to the  community. The ideal Director of Sales & Marketing candidate will have a minimum of five years of  progressive sales experience, preferably in the hospitality field.  Relative franchise experience a plus. We are seeking a detail-oriented,  professional individual with excellent sales techniques who will meet or  exceed budgeted goals and responsibly manage all aspects of the Sales  department in accordance with the standards of HBS Hospitality and  franchise.

Director of Sales & Marketing Position Profile
The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for the development and performance of all  sales and marketing activities and the team itself. Develop and  implement a business plan and sales and marketing strategy for the  market that ensures attainment of sales goals and profitability to  exceed revenue matrixes, gain market share, and grow new account  business.

Director of Sales & Marketing Essential Job Functions 

  • The Director of Sales & Marketing will develop a marketing strategy to analyze historical, current and future  hotel/market trends and create a selling strategy to balance hotel  objectives and maximize revenue potentials.
  • Identify business  opportunities by being aware of prospective clients and evaluating their  position in the marketplace to leverage the sales relationship to  maximize revenue.
  • Target high revenue sales calls to ensure a  successful direct sales program, in accordance with goals established to  penetrate new markets.
  • Provide timely, accurate, competitive  pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and  approval, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
  • The Director of Sales & Marketing will maximize current hotel key accounts by identifying and capturing those that offer revenue growth.
  • Produce  monthly reports and sales forecasts to evaluate current/potential  markets and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and  market share then monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or  exceed established revenue plan.
  • Develops customer profiles and  maintains an effective trace system, including trace dates and  references, to best meet client needs, resulting in superior account  service and increased revenues.
  • Schedule conventions and/or  business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel  and departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the Sales office  and prospective clients.
  • Maintain well-documented, accurate,  organized and up-to-date file management system to serve client and  employer in the most expedient, organized, and knowledgeable manner.
  • The Director of Sales & Marketing will develop  strong customer relationships through frequent communication and the  use of professional, courteous and ethical interpersonal interaction.
  • Knowledge  of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products  and services to include marketing strategy, sales techniques, and  tactics to capitalize on profit margins.
  • Provide an environment where development of the team for the team to be successful in achieving goals is present.
  • Promptly follows-up on all customer needs and inquiries in an efficient and expedient manner.
  • Focus on revenue-producing activity and selling time by a strategic plan that maximizes direct sales efforts.
  • Achieve activity goals as established by management and complete all reports and assignments in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • The Director of Sales & Marketing will develop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand in the local community.
  • Exhibit  a positive and involved team attitude to all hotel departments and  maintain open communications with all co-workers and managers for the  best overall performance of the hotel and champion a service and  hospitable culture that promote a healthy and productive format of  serving others with excellence.

Job Requirements

Director of Sales & Marketing Qualifications

Required Prior Experience:

  • 5+ years of hotel or industry related experience
  • Proven performance achieving individual and team sales productivity goals

Preferred Prior Experience:

  • 5+ years of hotel sales and marketing experience
  • 3+ years successfully directing a sales, catering or similar team
  • A strong working knowledge or experience with the Group, Negotiated Transient and Social Event segments

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience

Required Technology:

Demonstrated  experience with industry specific sales programs including Microsoft  Office, Delphi.fdc, and/or CI/TY, particularly in detailing Banquet  Event Orders (BEOs)

Preferred Technology:

  • Working knowledge of ProfitSword forecasting
  • Workday

Travel:

Some travel requirement

Required Physical:

8+ hours at a desk/computer
