Director of Human Resources
Westin Houston Medical Center
Houston, TX 

A Pearl Human Resource Director reports to the General Manager and is responsible for creating leaders and fostering the Pearl culture within the hotel departments for Pearl Hospitality. A Pearl Human Resource Director must ignite the human spirit by creating unrivaled hospitality experiences fueled by fun, enthusiasm and compassion that challenge each person to unlock their own potential. 

The Human Resource Director is responsible for the successful operation and administration of the Human Resource department. The Human Resource Director must possess the highest level of professionalism and courtesy. The Human Resource Director’s function is to work with all associates to support the daily operations of the property. The Human Resource Director must assist managers in aligning the hotel policies and procedures with the overall business objectives. This includes driving results through effective coaching, counseling, implementing hotel strategy, hiring and retention of the best associates, overseeing all associate relations and labor related matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights laws. The Human Resource Director must ensure that our associates and our customers are treated with the utmost respect at all times since they are the key to our success.


Director of Human Resources Responsibilities  - (not limited to)

  • The Human Resource Director will foster the Pearl culture
  • Passion and commitment to the business at an ownership level
  • Oversee hotel associates to inspire loyalty 
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards as well as Pearl standards and procedures
  • Maintain effective and open communication
  • Foster teamwork 
  • The Human Resource Director must possess high energy, professionalism and confidence every day and in every way
  • Be a highly motivated and enthusiastic leader
  • Participate in Pearl required daily and weekly meetings with enthusiasm and commitment to success
  • Train department managers to ensure they fully comply with the federal and state laws 
  • Ensure Managers administer timely execution of associate evaluations
  • Must be capable to successfully prioritize, delegate, organize and multi-task 
  • Must be compliant of brand standards and Pearl standards and procedures
  • The Human Resource Director must be able to conduct daily business with integrity and be ethical at all times
  • Treat guests, associates, vendors and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times
  • Must be able to coach and counsel and provide clear and concise direction
  • Oversee recruitment efforts
  • Responsible for EEOC and Affirmative Action compliance
  • Facilitate open employee communications to discern grievances and respond appropriately
  • Act as a hotel liaison between hotel staff and management if needed
  • Must have impeccable follow through, organization, and must be detailed oriented
  • The Human Resource Director must be able to process payroll accurately & timely
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all situations
  • Must be able to train associates of all departments on service standards 
  • Process all new hire paperwork and orientations 
  • Manage the termination process and personnel information with diligence and confidentiality
  • Recognize and reward associates with exciting and unique programs
  • Administer COBRA and all insurance enrollments
  • The Human Resource Director must maintain a safe working environment through ongoing compliance of safety guidelines
  • Ensure emergency procedures are understood by all through ongoing training and documentation
  • Be able to work well under pressure and meet or beat deadlines
  • Written and verbal communication skills 
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Perform other tasks that are deemed necessary to the success of Pearl, the hotel and the associates


Job Requirements

 Director of Human Resources Qualifications

*Prior Human resources director (1-3yr) experience preferred, not required


Physical Requirements - (not limited to)

*Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.

*Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, walk, and run. 

*Must be able to operate motor vehicle using safety precautions.

*Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. 

*Must be able to work around moderate noise level.
