Stock bars with designated supplies, ensuring no shortages for guest service. Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment according to hotel specifications. Assist Bartenders and Servers.

  • Complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation and menus
  • Complete knowledge and complicity with all departmental policies and service procedures
  • Ability to understand guests' service needs
  • Complete opening side duties
  • Check quality amount of all bar stock and supplies by using checklist
  • Complete opening inventory sheet
  • Requisition all necessary supplies
  • Transport supplies from storeroom to designated bar
  • Stock ice in bar
  • Stock plastic glassware and paper supplies
  • Set up bottles in display cabinet and speed rail
  • Check temperature of refrigeration units
  • Inspect cleanliness and condition of bar, and service areas; rectify any deficiencies
  • Assist Bartender in preparing garnishes and mixes
  • Replenish supplies in bars throughout shift
  • Assist bartenders and Cocktail servers as directed
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge guests even when busy
  • Maintain positive guest relations
  • Be familiar with all hotel services and features, local attractions and activities to respond accurately to any guest inquiry
  • Handle guest complaints following the four step procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction
  • Answer outlet telephone within 3 rings, using correct greeting and telephone etiquette
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of bartop, tables, service areas and outlet itself
  • Transport soiled wares to dishwashing area
  • Extend courteous departures when guests leave outlet
  • Ensure maximum usage of all supplies to attain budgeted beverage cost and to prevent waste
  • Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
  • Complete closing side duties
  • Properly store all reusable goods
  • Empty and drain ice bin
  • Scrub sink
  • Remove all items from bartop and tables; place clean items in designated areas; wipe clean all surfaces of bartop and tables
  • Remove all liquor and bottles from speed rail and liquor cabinet
  • Secure all liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets and storage areas
  • Wipe down all bottles and surfaces
  • Clean all bar equipment and tools
  • Remove trash
  • Assist with weekly/monthly inventories
  • Obtain cigarettes/cigars when requested by guests
  • Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule
  • Retrieve food orders from kitchen and deliver to Bartender
  • Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to manager
  • Attend department meetings
  • Pick up food baskets from the pool and beach area and bring them back to the dishwasher area to be cleaned and sanitized to be reused
  • Help cleaning the following areas: Beach, pool decks, restaurants.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description

  • Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Food handling certificate
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, wines and non-alcoholic selections available
  • Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended
  • Well organized with ability to follow instructions thoroughly
  • Ability to exercise good judgments in determining potentially intoxicated guests
  • Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as a part of a team

  • High School graduate, some college
  • Previous experience in hospitality industry in similar position
  • Certification in alcohol awareness program
  • Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling
  • Previous guest relations training

  • Physical demands
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to walk and stand; use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
    • The employee is frequently to climb or balance; taste and smell
    • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
    • Ability to exert strong physical effort in transporting cases of liquor and beer kegs from storeroom to bar
    • Ability to endure abundant physical movements throughout the works areas
  • Communication
    • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding
    • Ability to provide legible communication
    • Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, effectively with guests, vendors and co-workers
    • Must read, write and speak the English language fluently
    • Knowledge of Spanish helpful
