Job Description

Overview

Responsible for supporting Business development for a portfolio of Hotels; devising outbound target accounts in conjunction with property DOSM's and Regional Sales Support Team. Focus on total room, banquet, catering, and room rental revenue, yield strategies, implementation and accountable to a market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies will include market mix, pricing, status, direct sales, marketing, and public relations. Support of LEAD management, to deliver consistently high booking closure rates and base building for Group and Events, as well as Catering and Business Travel strategic execution support.
Responsibilities

  • The Area Director of Sales & Marketing is primarily responsible for supporting the execution of top line revenue strategy for traditional sales related segments to include group, volume transient & catering
  • The individual is additionally responsible for staying ahead of market trends, market share movement and ongoing competitive hotel analysis, while supporting the property sales teams (rooms & catering) to insure budgeted revenues are met or exceeded
  • The Area Director of Sales & Marketing is also responsible for supporting the implementation a marketing communications plan designed to achieve the desired positioning for the hotel, as well as supporting sales and marketing budget that supports revenue attainment
  • Supports above property Sales Leadership in ensuring LEAD management process is executed to aid achievement of closure and transaction goals
  • Understand GEO source & ability to develop a plan to penetrate the primary markets.
  • Direct the solicitation efforts of the sales staff through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel.
  • Recruit, Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
  • Support training programs are conducted regularly and HEI standards of performance are met. Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement.
  • Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Department to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly forecast, marketing budget, lead management system, group booking pace report, star reports and sales meeting minutes, as directed by Corporate Director of Sales
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients. Internally promote HEI programs.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to the staff.
  • Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors
  • Support manage all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.
  • Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/required.
  • Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of sales and marketing leadership in Key Market, Multi property and/or Luxury experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office, CI/TY, CVENT, Knowland, Delphi FDC
  • Extensive knowledge of sales strategy skills, revenue management, Business development, industry trends.
  • Ability to effectively listen, communicate and perform diplomacy with internal and external customers and staff in all situations.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, coworkers, public, guests, and vendors.
