Job Description

The Hotel General Accountant supports the accounting and control functions at the hotel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general duties in areas of need within the Accounting Department to include: Accounts Payable, General Cashier, Income Audit, Payroll and Receiving.
  • Complete invoice reconciliation and reach out to vendors for outstanding invoices.
  • Reconcile contract labor invoices to contract to ensure prompt payment.
  • Maintain and audit the hotel general bank and process all change requests.
  • Complete daily cash and check deposits.
  • Conduct monthly bank audits on applicable associates and report any discrepancies to management.
  • Prepare daily tax reconciliation and research any tax variances
  • Review discrepancies from Income Audit to ensure timely resolution.
  • Reconcile payroll tips comparing the payout to the source documents.
  • Generate missing punches, attestation, and schedule list for managers daily.
  • Send the Daily Labor and Month to Date Labor Reports
  • Assist the Purchasing department with fulfilling requisitions and receiving items, as needed.
  • Ensure all guest disputes and requests for clarification are resolved and/or responded to in a timely manner.
  • Display and effectively communicate Omni Culture.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all Omni Finance SOPs.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months administrative experience, to include hotel front office experience.
  • Hotel accounting experience in a shared service environment is a plus.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers, both in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to input information accurately and efficiently into computer systems.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department.
  • Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Willing to learn and grow.

ENVIRONMENT and POSITION ANALYSIS

  • Interior of hotel, in normal office conditions. Stand/walk throughout the shift. Sit and utilize telephone/computer for an extended period or for an entire work shift. Requires repetitive motion. Lift/carry and place objects weighing up to 20 pounds without assistance.

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT

  • Desktop computer (Opera, Windows, Microsoft Office, other various computer systems), printer, telephone, copier, postage machine, fax machine.
