Oceans Edge Resort & Marina is seeking a friendly and professional Evening Host to join the team at Yellowfin Bar and Kitchen. As the first point of contact for our guests, the Host plays a vital role in setting the tone for a memorable dining experience. This position is centered around providing exceptional customer service, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed, comfortable, and valued from the moment they arrive.

Skills and Responsibilities:

• Set up the host stand for service, ensuring cleanliness of menus and accurate seating chart preparation.
• Greet guests warmly and with a friendly attitude as they enter the restaurant.
• Escort guests to their assigned table and provide the appropriate menu(s).
• Introduce the guests to their server and provide details regarding who will be assisting them.
• Communicate with servers immediately about new table arrivals to minimize delays in service.
• Accurately record guest counts and table assignments.
• Stagger seating by server/section to ensure a smooth and steady flow of service throughout the evening.
• Uphold sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies to protect both the establishment and guests.
• Stay informed on the current menu, daily specials, and any items that are unavailable.
• Respond to guest cues and anticipate when additional service is needed, ensuring their experience is seamless.
• Thank guests for dining with us as they leave and encourage them to return.
• Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by management to maintain a tidy and welcoming environment.
• Assist with special events and functions when necessary, providing excellent service.
• Adhere consistently to grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
• Promptly address customer service issues, referring more complex concerns to management.
• Answer phone calls according to the established standards and ensure a professional greeting.
• Support servers with resetting and cleaning tables during shift transitions.
• Ensure tables are set up properly before each shift to maintain a high standard of presentation.
• Complete side work and additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Must be local to Key West or within a reasonable driving distance to the resort.
• Excellent verbal communication skills are required to interact effectively with guests and staff.
• Previous experience as a host in an upscale or fine dining restaurant, or in a hotel restaurant setting, is preferred but not mandatory.
