ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Director Housekeeping, you will embody the brand as an authentic, approachable, adventure-curious, sociable, and savvy leader. You will be responsible for assuring attentive, friendly, authentic, and efficient service in all Housekeeping and guest experiences at VOCO - The Shelby, while maintaining adherence to budgeted payroll and overhead cost.
SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM
Reports to General Manager
Supports Housekeeping department
Supports hotel by ensuring completion of regular maintenance and cleaning projects
Assists in special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
Create SOPs and be responsible for all administrative duties for the department
SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM
Manages Housekeeping operations across the property, ensuring alignment with brand values, guidelines, and impeccable guest service. Oversees efficient processes that support strong financial adherence to budgeted expectations.
Builds meaningful connections with guests by anticipating their needs, responding promptly to requests and concerns, and maintaining positive guest relations. Ensures all interactions are attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented.
Maintains regular attendance in compliance with property standards and varies according to hotel needs.
Adheres to high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
Ensures compliance with property standards and regulations to maintain safe and efficient hotel operations. Establishes and maintains key control systems for the department.
Operates radios efficiently and professionally to communicate with hotel staff, ensuring proper radio etiquette within the housekeeping department.
Monitors and directs housekeeping personnel, ensuring quality assurance to brand standards by conducting daily room inspections and training staff on property standards.
Conducts employee performance appraisals, including 90-day and annual reviews, and leads monthly departmental meetings with housekeeping staff.
Prepares employee schedules in line with business forecasts, payroll budget guidelines, and productivity requirements.
Oversees daily inspections for arriving VIPs and IHG reward members and ensures that all areas, including lobbies, guest hallways, guest rooms, and back-of-house areas, meet property cleanliness standards.
Conduct monthly and quarterly, maintain proper inventory of housekeeping linen, terry and supplies via efficient ordering processes.
Ensures guest privacy and security by following property procedures and addresses all guest requests, complaints, or emergencies in a courteous, efficient manner.
Participates in M.O.D. coverage as scheduled and ensures implementation of all property policies, house rules, and safety procedures for housekeeping staff.
Coaches, motivates, disciplines, and trains housekeeping staff according to property SOPs, conducting interviews and hiring procedures as needed.
Monitors work orders and submits requests to the engineering department, following up to ensure completion.
Focuses the housekeeping department on contributing to guest satisfaction and positive comment card scores.
Maintains and monitors "Lost and Found" procedures and policies in accordance with property standards.
Conducts daily staff meetings and weekly walk-throughs with the General Manager and Property Engineer to ensure departmental success.
Embraces teamwork, cooperates, and communicates well with colleagues and team members in all areas of the hotel’s operation.
ONGOING + EVERYDAY TASKS:
Financial Management:
Oversees scheduling, HSK budgeting, ordering and supply inventory for the department.
Department & Property Oversight:
Will support housekeeping operations.
Oversees and conducts regular room inspections to maintain cleanliness and quality standards. Ensuring all guest areas (lobbies, hallways, rooms, back-of-house) meet property expectations.
Monitors experiential touchpoints, cleanliness, and quality of product and service.
People Leadership:
Demonstrates leadership through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Encourages trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
Coaches and develops team members.
Models appropriate behaviors and fosters a culture of excellence.
Collaborate closely with front office, guest experience leaders, maintenance, revenue, marketing, and sales, managers and teams.
Meetings & Training:
Leads daily housekeeping morning meetings and conducts monthly department meetings with housekeeping staff.
Provides monthly training and ongoing development based on Culture Champion programs and other Springboard initiatives.
Conducts weekly walk-throughs with the General Manager and Property Engineer to ensure operational success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Service-oriented with exceptional customer service and sales skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift, pull, push up to 50lbs.
Ability to bend, twist, kneel, reach, squat
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods of time, depending on assigned task.
Must be able to work weekend and evening shifts, including Fridays & Saturdays and events as needed.
