Scope of the Position:

The Engineer is responsible for the operation maintenance service and repair of equipment. This person will complete maintenance request work orders from all departments in a timely basis. Assist in the repair, maintenance, upkeep, and replacement of the property's cosmetic materials (interior/exterior painting, patching of woodwork and furniture refinishing), in accordance with hotel standards. And will also assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to L’Ermitage guidelines to ensure the health, safety and comfort of our team members and guests.
  • Maintain and execute 5-star Forbes and 5 Diamonds AAA standards.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments.
  • Utilize Proper Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and in accordance with property specific guidelines.
  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
  • Communicate with guests/customers/internal staff to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
  • Carry equipment (e.g., tools, radio).
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and shut-offs for buildings.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
  • Ensure each day’s activities and problems that occur are communicated to the other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
  • Display solid knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, patching walls, painting, wall vinyl replacement, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
  • Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on to equipment and components commonly found within the property.
  • Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
  • Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough clean-up of the painting or repair area.
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Display working knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices that interact with such programs.
  • Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Display the ability to train and mentor other engineers (e.g., Engineer I).
  • Display ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings, property walks, and communicating with guests.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, twist, push, pull, and use power and hand tools.
  • The employee must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift to 75 pounds.

Qualification Standards:

  • Experience: 1-2 years of engineering support experience in hospitality is preferred

Hourly Rate: $27.31
