Ideal candidates have flexible schedules with availability to occasionally work “on-call” some weekends, as needed.

Pay Range: $50,000 - $60,000
Responsibilities
- Safely operates the use of dump trucks, snow removal equipment, snowcat, and snowmobiles to remove, monitor, maintain, groom, and pack the facility during winter operations
- Aids the course lead in the proper winterization of the golf course
- Maintains a working knowledge of agronomy programs and schedule of events
- Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots components such as pressure relief and reduction valves, pumps, filtration equipment, pump motors/drives, and communication systems associated with the water delivery for the property
- Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies. Places orders for parts/supplies as needed for equipment or service and tracks expenses and inventories for budget purposes
- Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of golf course maintenance equipment
- Performs mower grinding/sharpening, performs general overhaul of motors, reels, installs and adjusts braking systems
- Performs machining or welding work in making fittings used in repair of maintenance equipment
- Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered
- Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus
- Knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems and mowing equipment maintenance such as grinding, sharpening and adjustment
- Diagnoses mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work
- Follows sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
- Helps to control costs and expenses in the maintenance of the equipment fleet relating to parts purchases, inventory levels, service work, fuel inventories and related items.
- Aids the ongoing hiring, training, and coaching of staff
- Manages the seasonal staff during the absence of the Superintendent and Assistant
- Superintendent
- Manages department members that may include but is not limited to: Assistant Mechanic(s), greenskeepers, and equipment operators
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance
- Performs other duties as required
Education and Experience Requirements
- Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in diesel mechanics, auto mechanics, or small engines)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e., the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English)
Working Conditions
- Frequently uses hands
- Regularly stands, walks, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and crawls
- Frequently lifts, moves, and carries up to 50 pounds; to push or pull up to 100 pounds
- Normally works near moving mechanical parts, sharp objects, fumes and/or airborne particles
- Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions
- Noise level is moderate
