Compensation: $24.00 per hour
Receiver is responsible for receiving assigned products for all F&B departments within the hotel. They check products for quantity & quality, weight, and ensure all items coincide with those listed on the specific vendor’s invoice. These items are put away promptly to the designated storage area using FIFO and no food items are on the floor. The receiver is responsible for the organization, cleanliness, and maintenance of all storage areas. These areas include one walk-in cooler, two walk-in freezers, two dry pantries, one paper and plastic area, and one China, glass, and flatware area.
1. Report to work as scheduled
2. Be in uniform when clocking in at scheduled start time
3. Maintain and keep receiving and Storage areas clean and organized.
4. Check and report any equipment malfunctioning or failures
5. Work quickly and complete assignments
6. Physically check all food, beverage, paper goods, kitchen chemicals, etc., quantity & quality (as per our standard) and return or reject any food items close to expiring or spoiled or damaged and inform the purchasing director and ex-chef.
7. Ensure all products are of the best quality and freshness and no expired items in the Storerooms.
8. Ensure correct pricing and receipt of all specified items
9. Ensure proper storage and rotation of all products, using FIFO.
10. Keep all storage area floors free of debris
11. Break down and dispose of any packaging properly in the designated recycling or trash dumpster
12. Take a lunch break before the 5th hour of work, you are responsible to take your entitled break and report arrival, breaks and departures to the Purchasing Director.
13. Daily inspection of all Food & Beverage storage areas to ensure that all products are labeled and dated, and no expired items complies with all Health Department regulations.
14. Daily inventory of all food, beverage, and paper goods
15. Assist in quarterly physical food inventory.
16. Inform purchasing director of any product shortages, problems, concerns, or inconsistencies
17. Maintain professional atmosphere throughout the hotel
18. Remain positive with co-workers and guests
19. Practice proper recycling procedures and kitchen energy management
20. Control waste, be aware of the costs attached to the area of responsibility
21. Check out with Purchasing Director before leaving
22. Clock out in uniform and leave property immediately after shift
23. Actively participates in Safety Programs and abides by all injury reporting and safety behavior requirements.
24. Participate in and support hotel efforts towards community, sustainability, and environmental initiatives.
25. Perform other duties as directed, developed, or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
1. High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
2. Knowledge of basic computer functions, including Microsoft Word & Excel
3. Must have current and up to date San Diego County food handler's card
4. Dedication to excellence with continued development of our hotel reputation
5. Ability to communicate in English with vendors, guests, and staff, to their understanding
Desirable
1. 1-year prior F&B receiving experience
2. Prior working experience in a 5 star/5 diamond hotel
3. Stable work history

4. Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. frequently.
5. Vision requirements: constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.
6. Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment
