Primary Mission:
At Royal Sun, we craft more than just meals—we create transformative experiences through the art of food. As a key member of our culinary team, your mission is to ensure that every dish served reflects the mystic desert surroundings. You will oversee the flow of the kitchen with intention and care, guiding our team in the art of preparation, plating, and presentation. You will be a steward of quality, safety, and creative excellence, ensuring that our guests experience not only nourishment but a deeper connection to the spirit of the desert.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily production of food, ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation, and safety are met, all while maintaining mindfulness of the surrounding environment and our guests’ needs for nourishment, reflection, and connection.
- Lead and inspire kitchen associates with empathy and clarity—guiding them through training, development, and daily rituals that elevate their craft. Empower each team member to embody the spirit of Royal Sun as they move through their shifts with intention and care.
- Supervise food production, ensuring that recipes, presentation, and quality standards align with Royal Sun’s commitment to creating transformative experiences. Foster a culture of attention to detail, where each plate is prepared with reverence and grace.
- Ensure the kitchen is set up for efficiency and flow before each meal service, ensuring that every moment in the kitchen contributes to the overall ambiance of the guest experience.
- Manage and maintain the sanctity of the kitchen space—monitoring sanitation practices and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, creating a safe, healthy environment for all who work and dine with us.
- Collaborate in the creation and evolution of menus that reflect the mysticism of the desert landscape, continuously drawing guests into an immersive culinary experience that resonates long after their visit.
- Ensure proper receiving, storage, and rotation of ingredients in alignment with health regulations, while honoring the integrity of the ingredients that nourish our guests.
- Maintain and troubleshoot kitchen equipment, ensuring all tools are in working order to facilitate the smooth and mindful flow of the culinary process.
- Craft schedules that balance culinary excellence with operational efficiency, all while considering the flow of each shift and the overall well-being of your team.
- Lead with purpose and clarity when managing payroll, attendance, and safety protocols to reduce liability and expenses, ensuring a fulfilling and efficient environment for both staff and guests alike.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
Prior Experience:
5+ years in a related role, either with Royal Sun or similar organizations that value mindful service and culinary excellence.
IT Expertise:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and web analytics tools preferred, using technology to enhance the guest experience.
Education:
2+ years of post-high school education in culinary arts, hospitality, or a related field. College degree preferred, but passion and creativity matter most.

Subject Expertise:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
- Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor.
- Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook.
- Must be service oriented with excellent customer service and sales skills
- Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers and read, write and understand the English language
- Must be energetic and outgoing
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Must be able to understand and work with basic financial information and solve basic arithmetic problems
- Must be able to type 45 wpm and have the ability to input data and access information on the computer
- Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Opera; preferred.
- Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS:
- Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.
- Travel required: As needed for hotel familiarization, content creation shoots and to meet with colleagues.
- Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (PST), while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
