Annual Salary Range: $135,000 - $140,000 plus annual bonus
General Purpose
Oversees the maintenance and construction of an 18-hole golf course and ensures that turf grass and club property maintained and repaired as needed to established standards.
In addition to recent whole-course tee leveling project and addition of two new practice putting greens, Tustin Ranch Golf Club is anticipating a course-wide irrigation project in 2025. Candidate with specific irrigation expertise and project management skills and experience is encouraged.
Essential Duties
- Assists with developing annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans. Manages expenses within the department in accordance with the property directive.
- Maintains ongoing awareness of all agronomic activity on the course (greens, tees, fairways, rough, bunkers) and provides constant feedback and direction to key staff members.
- Supervises the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
- Maintains clear understanding of and implements all Troon Golf Agronomy standards in addition to ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory standards/laws.
- Supports the planning, organizing, and direction of the maintenance and construction.
- Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemicals/fertilizers used on the course.
- Provides timely and accurate reporting of all financial and non-financial information as directed, requested or required by the General Manager, Director of Agronomy, or Troon Golf representatives.
- Implements sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
- Manages monthly and annual maintenance activities and costs within budgetary limitations. Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
- Ensures maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
- Ensures that they and all associates obtain proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental, customer, or neighbor concerns.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensures both upward and downward communication within the department and inter-departmentally.
- Provides leadership and a positive working environment that fosters teamwork, communication, ethical behavior, cleanliness and a “can do” attitude.
- Directly manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Assistant Superintendent, Foreman, Head Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
- Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each associate and develops ongoing training programs.

Certificates/Licenses
Valid California Driver’s License.
Pesticide Application License.
Candidate must have or be able to obtain a Qualified Applicators License for State of California.
Job Knowledge, Skill, And Ability Preferences
Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
