The UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center (LCC) and Hotel offers an inspirational learning environment in a thoughtfully designed space that fosters excellence, engagement, inspiration and breakthroughs. It is an academic meeting and conference destination supporting UCLA’s mission of education, research, and community service.
The Luskin Hotel is located in the heart of the UCLA campus. This high-end facility is comprised of 254 guest rooms, approximately 25,000 square feet of meeting space, a 160-seat restaurant (Plateia), a fitness center, and a business center. The total staff anticipated for the Luskin Conference Center is approximately 165-180 full-time employees, with total revenue projected at $30 million annually.

Restaurant Sales Manager
You will be responsible for:
  • Selling all space in the Plateia Restaurant and the Luskin Conference Center.
  • Identifying new sales opportunities by developing relationships with campus and community partners, industry organizations, and educational and research groups.
  • Nurturing relationships with past clients to generate networking referrals and repeat business.
  • Being an active part of the Conference Center sales and events team charged with creating superior experiences for every client and guest.
To accomplish these goals, you will be expected to:
  •  Develop and execute a strategic marketing and sales plan for the restaurant in conjunction with the restaurant manager.
  • Maximize revenue by selling all Conference Center services to past, present, and potential clients through formal and informal presentations, written materials, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Complete proposals and contracts in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner.
  • Creatively conduct site inspection tours so that potential clients can visualize and select the Luskin Conference Center as a venue.
  • Establish productive business relationships designed to maximize event sales and revenue-generating opportunities by presenting targeted information, meeting with, and entertaining clients, as deemed appropriate. 
  • Participate in industry organizations and appropriate community events.
  • Travel locally and nationally to conduct outside sales calls and attend industry events and relevant trade shows.
  • Communicate effectively and work closely with all Luskin Conference Center units, campus departments, and outside vendors to create strong, cooperative working relationships.
The ideal candidate will possess:  
  • 3+ years’ Experience in catering or restaurant sales manager position.
  • Strong Business acumen to make appropriate decisions with minimal guidance.
  • Significant discretion and skill in negotiating large-scale contracts.
  • A proven track record of closing sales and negotiating large dollar volume financial contracts.
  • A thorough understanding of the hotel sales industry.
  • Experience and knowledge of the catering and conferencing business.
  • Ability to promote global sales efforts of other revenue-generating entities within UCLA Housing & Hospitality services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skill in prioritizing and organizing assignments when faced with competing deadlines and compelling requests for service.
  • Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to travel to national and international destinations to conduct business trips.
