Job Description

A 191 room boutique hotel located in downtown San Diego is looking for a HANDS ON Senior Leader to oversee all aspects of the business. The perfect General Manager candidate must have in depth knowledge and understanding of the hotel operations, including Revenue Management, Sales & Marketing, Human Resources, Food and Beverage, Social Media, Financial performance and Guest Service Index. They must know how to move the performance needle to increase market share and deliver performance to the bottom line. This position is actively involved in the local community and requires strong relationships with local businesses and residents.

Job Requirements

  • General Manager experienced with emphasis on Boutique and independent hotels.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and late nights.
  • Hospitality industry experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.
  • Seeking an individual that can roll their sleeves up, be diligent and exceed the company’s objectives.
  • Must create a professional environment to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Create SOP’s and marketing strategies that entail results
  • Must be present with all guest relations and events to ensure exceptional service.
  • Must know the San Diego Market

Specific Tasks:

  • Marketing & Public Relations – Must have a Strong passion for setting the trends as opposed to following them. Highly proficient in developing innovative and effective brand messaging for Collateral Design, Direct Marketing, Social Media & Digital Campaigns and Online Reputation Management.
  • Customer Relationship Management – Requires Long history of fostering relationships in the hospitality and meeting planning industry. Must listen and understand the needs of guests and travelers. Provide solutions that have a positive impact to the overall guest experience and build brand loyalty.
  • Leadership–Exhibit Progressive leadership skills that inspire a team to achieve their fullest potential. Lead by example and motivate through collaborative efforts.
  • Revenue Management- Business-savvy in delivering creative Revenue Management solutions differentiating from the competition. Work with DORM to develop revenue management practices addressing demand indicators, forecasting and maximize yield; identifies ways to grow occupancy, RevPAR, and market share by researching and staying aware of competitor strategies; controls labor and capital expenses. Knowledge of STR report to analyze comp sets and achieving BAR.
  • Food and Beverage- Knowledge of Restaurant and Banquet operations. Oversee all events with the Director of F&B and Catering.
  • Communication – Highly skilled in all communication forms including written and spoken. Dynamic ability to clearly articulate a progressive thought that engages small or large stakeholders. Understand the value of positive communication upward, sideways, and downwards in a respectful and honorable way to achieve the best possible work environment.
  • Financial – Deep understanding of budget development and expense management / P&L knowledge. Proven track record of accomplishment of goals and performance targets. Delivering a defined ROI on marketing projects.
  • Owner Relations – strong rapport and communication with owner of all business data.
