 Job Overview

The Spa Director guides the Assistant Spa Director and Spa Team throughout the daily operations and processes of Tierra Santa. The Director takes strategic and operational decisions with regards to treatments and philosophies. Develops spa ethos based upon healing practices of South America. Curates retail to drive sales with product lines that are in line with our branding and look/feel od spa. The Spa Director is the department head responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of the Spa, and for the development and maintenance of the department's business direction, in support of the hotel's mission and values, including profitable financial management, effective leadership, excellent customer service skills, and supervision of department requirements and standards.

Duties And Responsibilities 

• Along with the Hotel Manager, sets budget and then manages the spa according to planned targets by establishing creative revenue generation tactics and cost-effective management of payroll and expenses.
• Imaginatively promotes Spa Sales through planned monthly promotions, daily specials, packages and events in coordination with Assistant Director of Spa and spa team. Ensures that spa is included in property wide programming and marketing, and works to develop the market strategy with appropriate stakeholders.
• Maintains accurate record controls of PO's, receiving information and invoices by vendors to ensure accurate financial controls during each month in coordination with the Assistant Director of Spa. Controllable expenses are kept in relation to business demands to ensure profitability.
• Oversees and manages the payroll process, ensuring wages are in compliance with company policies/regulations.   
• Oversees; management of the spa, inventory and selling of several lines of retail, booking processes, sets and maintains the vision of the spa incorporating the services, spaces, and atmosphere, cleaning and maintenance.
• Creates the service culture of the spa, ensuring that exceptional customer service is extended via empowerment and a hands on service approach from all team members. Handles escalated guest problems and complaints.
• Issues recommendations regarding the annual operating budget, capital investment budget, operating planning and further periodic evaluations of financial performance, including reports on sales and operations with supporting statistical data.
• Promotes growth through increasing revenue and daily operational efficiency.
• Acts as liaison with the Marketing/Communications department in order to promote the Spa and all relevant treatments/philosophies.
• Manages hiring and selection activities, talent and employee development. Provides coaching and mentorship to team members on an ongoing basis. Leads and drives team member engagement.
• Oversees the cleanliness of the Spa and coordinates special requirements with Housekeeping, Laundry, and Engineering.
• Understands and implements emergency response procedures and responds properly in any hotel/ spa emergency to assure team and guest safety.
• Integrates Spas with the Resort operations wherever possible and in accordance to the direction of Spa trends.
• The ability to ensure all equipment is kept in perfect working condition and reports any deficiencies to the proper department.
• The ability to anticipate, in advance, all materials and supplies and assure their availability.
• The ability to be certified in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and first aid and assures sufficient number of certified spa staff is on premise at all times.
• Cross-trained in all functions of the spa where appropriate. 
• Develops new treatments/concepts to continually keep the Spa at the forefront of the industry.
• Performs other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management. 
• Interacts with guests, providing full knowledge and assistance for maximum guest usage in a friendly but unobtrusive manner with all guests.
