We have an exciting opportunity for a self motivated and experiences hospitality Business Development Specialist - Events to join our Catering team.

Rémunération: $50,000 to $200,000 per year

We operate two (2) adjoining hotel properties - Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel and Best Western Parkway Hotel, conveniently located at Highway 7 and Leslie Street in Richmond Hill.  We offer 30,000 sq feet meeting/banquet space, and a 25,000 sq foot health & racquet club. There are 3 pools - 1 outdoor & 2 indoor. We are accessible via YRT /VIVA transit, and Highways 7, 404 and 407. We are currently recruiting for a full time BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST - EVENTS to join our Catering team.   This position reports directly to the Director of Catering and is responsible for optimizing occupancy and maximizing rental revenues by prospecting and closing new business .  The position involves a blend of creativity and strategic planning, as the individual is responsible for understanding client needs, crafting tailored proposals, and negotiating contracts to secure events ranging from corporate meetings to social gatherings. By maintaining strong relationships with clients and leveraging an in-depth knowledge of the hotel’s capabilities, the Business Development Specialist - Events ensures the hotel remains a preferred choice, driving revenue growth and enhancing the overall reputation of the property.

The duties of the BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST - EVENTS include, but are not limited to the following;

  • Develops and implements sales strategies to attract new clients for various events, including conferences, weddings, and corporate functions.
  • Prospects for potential new clients by attending industry events/tradeshows, conducting sales blitzes, client meetings, presentations and appointments.
  • Represents the property at local, regional, and national, industry events, tradeshows, and sales activities to drive business development.
  • Maintains a list of prospective clients and related activities.  Performs necessary administrative duties, including tasks using CI/TY and other Marriott software programs.
  • Creates customized proposals for clients that detail the meeting space offerings and related pricing.
  • Collaborates with event planners and the Director of Catering to tailor event packages that meet clients’ specific needs and budget requirements while ensuring the profitability of the hotel.
  • Conducts site visits with prospective clients interested in booking meeting space.
  • Negotiates contract terms, issues contracts, and follows through to secure signed agreements.

Communicates effectively with other departments to ensure client events are successful.

  • Coordinates with the Director of Catering and the Director of Sales and Marketing to create promotional materials and campaigns for event services offered.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Catering and/or General Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s or Associates Degree with majors in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or Communications
  • Must have a minimum 3-5 years of banquet hall, convention, hotel, or similar field experience.
  • Must have knowledge of hospitality industry, demographics in surrounding area, individual markets.
  • Must have strong computer Skills: Microsoft Office.
  • Must have proven ability to multitask, negotiate, and work under time pressures and deadlines.
  • Must have proven ability to network, build, and create positive business relationships.
  • Must have proven understanding of event logistics
  • Must have proven experience in meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Prior experience with CI/TY an asset
