Position Summary

The Night Auditor is responsible for reconciling daily revenue and ensuring all financial transactions are accurately processed, balanced, and reported. This includes auditing the restaurant, bar, and room charges, generating daily reports, and maintaining financial accuracy. In addition, the Night Auditor will cover the front desk during the night shift, assisting with guest check-ins, check-outs, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

This position requires flexibility and the ability to work varying shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Audit and balance daily restaurant, bar, and room revenue.
  • Review POS tapes/journals for revenue, covers, tips, and settlements by type and cashier.
  • Generate daily reports, such as the Guest Ledger Summary and Daily Restaurant Summary, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Resolve discrepancies and make necessary corrections, ensuring all financial data is reconciled.
  • Assist with the resetting of systems and file maintenance for the next day’s operations.
  • Coordinate with Front Desk, restaurant, and bar staff to ensure smooth operation during shift transitions.
  • Support the Front Desk as needed, including guest check-in/check-out, room assignments, and providing accurate information to guests.
  • Greet and welcome guests with a friendly and professional demeanor, ensuring a seamless guest experience.
  • Respond to guest inquiries with accurate information, including outlet hours, services, and local attractions.
  • Resolve guest concerns with empathy and professionalism, offering timely solutions.
  • Handle cash, credit card transactions, and various forms of payment accurately.
  • Post charges to guest rooms and house accounts, ensuring all transactions are recorded properly.
  • Manage cash bank and provide accurate change as required.
  • Ensure all necessary reports, back-up documentation, and vouchers are completed, filed, and distributed as required.
  • Maintain proper filing and backup systems for reports.
  • Handle discrepancies in the Front Desk System, making necessary corrections in a timely manner.
  • Follow all hotel safety and security policies and procedures, including fire prevention and emergency protocols.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, reporting any hazards or accidents to management immediately.
  • Adhere to company grooming and appearance standards.
  • Assist colleagues as needed to ensure smooth operations and excellent guest service.
  • Perform any additional duties or tasks as requested by the Front Office Manager or Supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Prior experience in hotel operations, front desk, or accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting functions, including accounts receivable and accounts payable, is a plus.
  • Basic math skills and proficiency with 10-key touchpad.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to navigate complex computer systems and input data accurately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Must be able to effectively communicate with guests, employees, and management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the front office area, including continuous walking during shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Frequent talking, hearing, and visual engagement with guests and staff.
