Remuneración: Starting at $16.00 per hour

JOB SUMMARY

Our Laundry Attendant communicates with guests in a friendly and welcoming manner with a smile.  Support and service the room attendants.  Responsible for washing, drying, and folding linen, as well as treating stains.  Responsible for taking requests for the items that may need to be processed during the day.  Keeps communication flowing between the other houseman, supervisors, and management to ensure all needs are being met for the hotel. You are also expected to complete any task assigned and your duties as an employee are not limited to this job summary.  Ensuring guest requests are delivered in a timely manner and in pristine condition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

  • Contribute positively to the team within the department
  • Participate in on-going training
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor always
  • Provide friendly assistance in answering questions and offering information to guests
  • Maintains good customer relations by keeping aware of all in-house and area functions to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses, in person and on telephone
  • Follow checklist for required duties and timeliness.  Complete all opening and closing duties.
  • Communicate with all other departments to fulfill guests’ needs
  • Washing and drying all linen, towels, rags, and Banquet linens.
  • Pressing sheets, pillowcases, napkins, and Banquet table linens.
  • Identifying and treating stains for linens and towels where the stains did not come out the first time.
  • Folding all the clean laundry.
  • Occasionally working late to bring in new linens and towels into inventory.
  • Stock shelves and houseman carts with clean folded linen and towels. 
  • Constant communication with housemen, housekeeping supervisors, laundry supervisor, housekeeping management and Food & Beverage management when certain items requested are ready.
  • Ensure overall cleanliness in the laundry department.
  • Take care in laundry equipment by immediately reporting maintenance issues to management and the Engineering staff.
  • Ensure chemicals are used as directed by OSHA regulations and Company standards.
  • Ensuring the proper washing codes as posted in the laundry department are entered in properly into the washing machines for the correct items being washed.
  • Ensuring the proper drying times for Hot & Cold as posted above each machine are entered in properly into the drying machines for the correct items being dried.
  • Ensure all items are sorted accordingly.
  • Ensure no dirty linen is set aside to be placed on the floors after being washed.  Only clean linen free of stains should be sent upstairs for the guest rooms.
  • Ensure the assigned master key is locked and secured at the end of each shift.  Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Attend required meetings
  • Keep work areas clean and organized
  • Be extremely courteous to all customers and fellow employees
  • Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor immediately
  • Assure all safety and security policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Maintain hotel equipment in proper working conditions
  • Any other duties assigned by your immediate supervisor
  • Comply with Valencia Hotel Group (and its affiliates) standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Valencia Hotel Group (and its affiliates) standards as required by scheduling which will vary dependent upon the Hotel needs.
  • Responsible to ensure dye program for rags is being follow by housekeepers and notify Supervisor of any deviation to the program. 
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Supervisor

BASICS

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting: Frequently.  Padded office chair, chair with back for breaks and meal periods.
  • Standing/Walking: Frequently.  Stairs, tile, rubber mats covering tile, concrete, padded carpet, marble,  linoleum and gravel, etc.  Inspecting the property.
  • Crouching (Bend at knees): Frequently.  Lifting, completing tasks performed at low levels, putting supplies and materials away.
  • Reaching (Overhead/extension): Frequently: Performing repairs, retrieving supplies and materials, updating shop board.
  • Kneeling/Crawling: Frequently.  Perform plumbing repairs, carpet repairs,  
  • Stooping (Bend at waist): Frequently.  Reading gauges and meters, lifting heavy objects, putting supplies and equipment away.
  • Twisting/Turning (Knees/waist/neck/back): Frequently.  Perform electrical and plumbing repairs, reading gauges and meters, follow up on projects.
  • Climbing: Frequently.  Ladders, step stools, and stairs.
  • Balancing: Frequently.  Climbing ladders, scaffolding, stairs, and carrying tools and equipment.
  • Enclosed Area: Frequently: Areas with restricted space such as ceiling spaces, etc.
  • Lifting /Carrying: Frequently: Equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs. Occasionally: Equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling: Frequently: Equipment, carts, racks, etc. weighing approx. up to 100 lbs.  Occasionally: Equipment up to 150 lbs.

Working Environment

  • Interior of hotel in all areas of hotel. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures
  • Non-climate-controlled Office
  • Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions
  • Exposure to various hazardous chemicals

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Previous experience in housekeeping department in hotel or related service industry preferred
  • Contributes to team results.
  • Ability to overcome unexpected obstacles through resourceful means.
  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • Must be comfortable using devices to communicate with team members and to complete checklists daily (i.e. Alice system.)
