Job Summary

Provides direction and leadership to Fitness Center Attendants and Lifeguards. Responsible for monitoring fitness facilities & pools, ensuring positive and friendly customer relations. Observes all activity within assigned areas offering assistance and instruction to guests/visitors. Assists with corporate team building & recreational events on property.

Essential Functions

Oversee operations, marketing and planning of all recreation facilities and services.
Oversee training, coaching and counseling of all Recreation staff.
Supervise the performance, attendance, attitudes, appearance and conduct of the Recreation staff.
Ensure that Recreation policies and procedures are maintained and adhered to by the staff.
Maintain consistent and efficient systems of communication within and outside the Recreation Department. This includes unvarying methods of handling guest complaints.
Represent the Recreation department at meetings, including pre-cons, conference reviews and department head meetings as needed.
Cooperate with other Resort departments in utilizing the recreational areas.
Assist with development of business plan to ensure that overall operation, growth and long- range profitability goals are achieved.
Prepare employee performance appraisals timely and accurately as requested by the Health Club Manager.
Review and remedy all problem tickets and master account charges on a timely basis.
Maintain accurate records and systems on invoices, gift certificates, personnel issues, purchase orders and budgetary goals.
Assist the Recreation Manager in increasing membership sales.
Create, maintain, and manage all extended Recreational Programming events.
Maintain a clean and favorable appearance of all recreation areas.
Attend all training as required.
Remain alert, courteous and helpful to the guests at all times.
Complete all other tasks as assigned.
Ensure product and service standards are maintained at a 4-star resort level.
Train and develop personnel within the Health Club
Devise and implement programs to increase customer quality and service.
Responsible in hiring, coaching, motivating and disciplining personnel within the Fitness Center.
Supervise the performance, attendance, attitudes, appearance and conduct of staff.
Ensure procedures are followed as outlined in SOP’s for fitness attendants, lifeguards and instructors.
Maintain an efficient system of communication between the Health Club and other departments, with particular regard to guest/members using the facility.
Participate in monthly staff meetings for planning, reviewing policies and procedures, training and motivating.
Responsible for general guest safety and first aid attention while using the resort recreational facilities.
Maintain strong relations with Engineering staff in regards to pool complex and safety issues.
Develop a harmonious inter-departmental relationship with other departments.
Inform Manager of all problems or situations that may be of concern to the department or guest.
Plan and implement new programs and guest services in keeping with industry trends.
Promote and manage teambuilding events for guests and members
Increase health club and pool memberships as well as merchandise sales.
Offer planned recreation events for guests and members.
Assist in providing children’s activities for holiday events.
All other duties assigned by Recreation Manager
Ensure that all facilities are maintained and operated at the highest level of service.
Ensure staff is offering the highest level of service.

Other Duties

All Associates are required to fully comply with hotel and departmental rules, regulations and policies for the safe, secure, effective and environmentally friendly operation of the hotel facilities. Examples include, but are not limited to lost and found procedures, emergency procedures, recycling efforts, etc.
Attend and participate in all hotel and/or departmental meetings, training sessions and other information meetings.
Regular attendance in conformance with hotels standards is essential to the successful performance of this position.
Comply with hotel grooming standards for both uniformed and non-uniformed associates.
Comply with hotel service and behavioral standards towards our guests, vendors and fellow colleagues, including, but not limited to ensuring proper phone etiquette, courteous and respectful behavior and maintaining a friendly and positive attitude.
Perform all other duties as directed by management that are consistent with the policies and procedures of the hotel.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Physical Effort:	Significant portions of day require prolonged standing and moving around. Ability to visually review documents and computer screen throughout day.
Physical Environment:	Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time during course of shift.
Manual Skills	Significant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity, e.g., typing, handwriting, or machine operations.
Work Schedule:	Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Safety:	Responsible for operating within hotel safety guidelines, including the safe and responsible operation of hotel equipment. Reports and addresses safety concerns as they arise. Ensures safe handling of chemicals in accordance with hotel and department standards and utilizes proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate.

Qualifications

Education:	High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate required. Some college or college degree preferred. Degree in recreation or hospitality management preferred.
Experience:	Minimum of two years supervisory experience and prior experience within a four star hotel brand preferred.
Computer Skill & Other Technical Skills:	Ability to utilize computer software and hardware required. Ability to easily maneuver on computer keyboard required. Ability to learn, utilize and communicate effectively via company issued communication devices (e.g. Walkie talkies, etc).
Communication:	Advanced ability to comprehend and speak English to understand and respond to information and address advanced guest requests required both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of additional language(s) preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:	First Aid, Lifeguard and/or Pool Operator Certifications preferred.
Other:	Must be customer-service oriented and have excellent hospitality skills. Must be able to calculate basic mathematic functions.
