Today Kimpton debuted its first hotel in Europe with the opening of the Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam’s busy Palace Quarter Neighborhood, steps away from Centraal Station.

The 274-room hotel is situated within three buildings circa the Dutch Golden Age, inspiring a design sense that strikes a balance between “modern luxury and historical elegance.” The hotel also features a “house within a hotel” called the “Little House,” which is a three-story suite located in a 15th-century building featuring two king bedrooms and a living area. The Little House is the former childhood home of 17th-century Dutch poet and playwright P.C. Hooft.

Other features in the hotel include an on-site flower shop, access to Van Moof bicycles for touring the city, two on-site bars, and restaurants, an on-site coffee and beignet shop, and a garden conservatory.

The launch of the De Witt, Amsterdam, comes not long after the opening of Kimpton’s first hotel outside of the U.S., the Seafire Resort & Spa in Grand Cayman, which opened in November 2016.

Kimpton is planning further openings across Europe, including a Paris location by 2020. There are also talks of the hotel brand expanding into the Middle East.

Kimpton’s expansion into the international market comes after it was acquired by IHG in 2015.
